About My Students
I teach students of all ages and abilities. I have taught special needs students with Down syndrome, autism, ADHD, anxiety, as well as legally blind students.
Most students have an interest in music and the arts. I have taught hundreds of students, the majority of which have joined the school band and play a second instrument which comes easy to them. Many of my students enter talent and variety shows, join theater and pursue voice lessons to enhance their piano experience. If I am available, I often attend talent and variety shows when my students perform. Two of my students applied and were chosen for the single position of jazz pianist in their respective schools. Some adults that come to piano lessons start from the beginning, and some adults continue where they left off as children.

Tyler is an incredibly talented pianist and musician who has developed his skills on a variety of instruments. During his first year of high school, he was selected for the sole jazz pianist position, an impressive accomplishment that reflects his dedication and musical talent.
Tyler regularly performs in school concerts and has even been invited by another school’s music director to perform at their concert. He also accompanies his school chorus and occasionally shares his musical talents at church.
In 2026, Tyler was honored with the John Philip Sousa Award, recognizing him as one of the most talented musicians in his school. He continues to be actively involved in his school’s marching band, chorus, and jazz band.
It has been a joy to watch Tyler grow as a pianist and musician over the past nine years. Congratulations, Tyler, on this wonderful milestone!
Krysalyn came to Progressive Piano to refresh and build upon her piano skills, and she has already been with me for a year! As an intermediate/advanced player, she brings an incredible amount of enthusiasm, determination, and drive to everything she does.
Krysalyn assists her school music teacher and performs with the school orchestra, as well as at various community events. For our 2027 recital, she's challenging herself by choosing a piece typically studied by advanced students with 10 years of piano experience. I'm fully confident that her performance will be outstanding!
It has been wonderful watching Krysalyn continue to grow as a pianist and musician. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and her drive to keep learning and improving is truly inspiring.

Jacob’s musical journey with me began at age 6. By middle school, he auditioned for and earned the sole jazz pianist position, a role he has proudly held throughout both middle and high school. Being selected as the school’s jazz pianist is a wonderful accomplishment, especially with only one student chosen for the position.
Over his 11 years of piano study, Jacob has developed his skills across a variety of musical styles. He regularly performs classical pieces at school concerts and was also invited to serve as the school chorus pianist, a position he was happy to accept.
It has been a joy watching Jacob grow as a pianist and musician over the years. His dedication and willingness to embrace new musical opportunities have made his 11-year journey especially rewarding to watch.
